Objectives
VoHF aims to rehabilitate young boys, support women suffering from HIV/AIDS, and incorporate orphaned children, some of whom have no parents. The foundation was established to address the dire circumstances faced by the boy-child, and women living with HIV/AID in the region, providing them with hope and support.History
VoHF began its journey in 2014 in the Soweto slums of Nairobi. The founders, Resper and Evans Gichana, witnessed the vulnerability of young boys in the slums who were often involved in criminal activities to survive. This led to the creation of a makeshift center to shelter these boys and provide them with a safe environment.
Relocation to Machakos County
Due to the growing number of boys needing shelter, VoHF received a donation of land in Machakos County, Komarok Location. Although they have not yet erected any structures on the donated land, the boys are presently sheltered in rented premises.Programs and Services
VoHF offers
various programs aimed at rehabilitating young boys and supporting women and
orphaned children. These programs include:
- Rehabilitation for Young Boys: Providing shelter, education,
and counselling to help boys reintegrate into society.
- Support for Women with HIV/AIDS: Offering medical care,
counselling, and support groups to help women manage their condition.
- Incorporating of Orphaned Children: Providing a safe and nurturing
environment for orphaned children, ensuring they receive education and
emotional support.
Impact and Future Goals
VoHF continues to make a significant impact on lives. The foundation aims
to expand its services and reach more individuals in need and orphaned
children, providing them with the support and resources necessary to lead
better lives.
